Sudanese Army 'kills tens of rebels, captures nine'

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) said they have killed tens of rebels and captured nine others, while three SAF soldiers have been killed in clashes with rebel movements in South Darfur State.

The semi-official Sudan Media Centre Friday quoted the Governor of the South Darfur State, M.G Adam Mohamed Jar al-Naby, as saying SAF drove back a “failed attempt” of aggression by armed (rebel) movements on Marching Locality in South Darfur State which, according to the Governor, attempted to attack the headquarters of the Locality.

SAF took nine rebels as Prisoners of War (POWs), killed tens and seized three vehicles, said al-Naby.

He said the operations were ongoing to arrest the remaining rebels who reportedly fled to nearby mountains.
