Sudan vice president Kiir Mayardit orders end to fighting

Khartoum- Sudan (PANA) – Sudan's first vice presid-ent Salva Kiir Mayardit has ordered a halt to military activities at the border between South Kordofan and Northern Bahr Al-Ghazal.
Kiir Mayardit, who is also the leader of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), called for an end to any act that would disturb the security in the area.
A statement released in Khartoum on Saturday by the Secretary General of the SPLM, Mr Pagan Amum, said the directives were issued by the Sudanese government to the SPLA and the Armed Forces of Sudan.
There was fighting last week between SPLM and Arabian Mesairiah tribe at the border of the disputed oil rich Abeyie region in Sudan.
Amum said the security situation was stable and that the Governors of North Bahr Al-Ghazal and South Kordofan were engaged in the task of maintaining security and resolving any disputes.
