Sudan to make use of the Gaza momentum reaching peace at home
Port Sudan, Sudan(PANA)- Sudan and Egypt are agreed that the region should make use of the momentum brought by the Trump peace deal in Gaza and bring peace to war-ridden Sudan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohieddin Salem, emphasised the convergence of views between the two presidents initiated by US President Donald Trump to halt the fighting in Gaza.
This has created a positive atmosphere conducive to sustainable peace in the region. It is in the interest of the entire region to benefit from this initiative, the Sudanese Presidency said in a briefing following the return of General Abdul Fatah Al Burhan from a one day visit to Egypt Wednesday.
The statement said Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council, returned home after a one-day official visit to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in response to an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
During the visit, he held bilateral talks with Egyptian President Al-Sisi.
The collective presidency said in a release that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohieddin Salem said the talks reviewed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries on regional and international issues of common interest.
It indicated that the Foreign Minister indicated that the Chairman of the Sovereign Council congratulated President Al-Sisi on the outstanding results and success achieved at the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit.
The Foreign Minister said Gen Al Burhan renewed his “thanks to Egypt for its steadfast positions towards Sudan in various fields”.
Minister Salem added that Egyptian President Al-Sisi reiterated his country's firm position in supporting Sudanese state institutions and rejecting any foreign interference in Sudan's internal affairs.
He also called on “Sudanese brothers to unite to protect their homeland and its resources.”
The minister indicated that the Egyptian President affirmed Egypt's constant commitment to “doing everything possible to restore normalcy in Sudan and achieve sustainable peace”.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation added that the talks addressed the tragic humanitarian situation in El Fasher and other cities besieged by rebel militias.
