Sudan: Sudan offers to mediate between Burundi and Rwanda

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - The Sudanese Foreign Ministry has revealed that Khartoum has offered to mediate in the growing dispute between Burundi and Rwanda.

State Foreign Minister Kamal al-Dinn Ismail told reporters in Khartoum on Wednesday that the offer was recently made in Angola by Vice President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul Rahman in a meeting with his Burundi counterpart who welcomed the initiative.

The State Foreign Minister said the Foreign Minister of Burundi, Alain Aime Nyamitwe, would pay a visit to Sudan on Thursday to further discuss the initiative with his Sudanese counterpart.

He said contact would be made with Rwanda to explore its acceptance of the Sudanese mediation.
