Sudan: Sudan Football Association escapes FIFA ban

hartoum, Sudan (PANA) - Sudan has survived an International ban in football by FIFA, following the resolution of the power tussle rocking the organization.

According to the FIFA media channel, the wrangle between the incumbent Mutassim Gaafar and the self-proclaimed President of the Sudanese Football Association, Gen. Abdelrahman Al Katim, has been settled.

The Sudanese ministry of Youth and Sports, which backed Gen. Al Katim, has also allowed the Mutassim-led executive to stay in office until the FIFA proposed date for a Presidential polls, so as to preserve the country from a ban.

In a letter signed by FIFA General Secretary Fatima Samoura, the fiasco in Sudan was scheduled to be settled by Friday, 30 June, 2017 but with "the white smoke} finally emerging, it means their affliation to FIFA has been preserved.
