Sudan: Guard killed, another wounded over dispute within LJM

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - A guard with the West Darfur Governor was killed and another wounded over a dispute that erupted within the ranks of the former rebel Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM).

Members of the group guarding the residence of Governor Haider Galokoma in Genaina, capital of West Darfur State, near the borders with Chad, who all belong to the LJM, began exchanging fire among themselves on Wednesday, causing the death of one of them and injuring another guard, Khartoum newspapers, including Al-Youm Al-Tally, reported on Thursday.

The former rebel movement is reported to be undergoing a split in the process of turning into a political party so as to contest the forthcoming elections.

LJM Secretary-General, Bahr Idriss Abu Gardah, who is now Health Minister, is reportedly leading a group of other senior figures of the movement against LJM Chairman, Tigani Sisi, who Gardah group accuses of being a dictator.
