Sudan: At least four killed in clashes with rebels in Blue Nile

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - Two rebels, a soldier and a civilian were killed and several others were injured in clashes between a group of rebels and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).

The army in a statement carried by the official SUNA news agency said the clashes occurred in Agadi, near the Damazin, capital of the Blue Nile State, on Friday night.

The statement on Saturday by army spokesman, Colonel Sawarmi Khalid Saad, explained that eight rebels on Friday night infiltrated into Agadi town market and broke a number of shops to loot food.

It said in the process, the rebels killed a civilian before the SAF and other organized forces intervened, exchanged fire with them and killed two of them and wounded others.

One SAF soldier was killed and another soldier was wounded before the troops retrieved the looted goods.

It said the government troops were still pursuing the remaining rebels.
