Steve Trawally guides Gambia to win over Chad in Afcon preliminaries 1st leg

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - Scorpion’s striker Bubacarr ‘Steve’ Trawally Wednesday guided The Gambia to a 1-0 away win over Chad during their first leg of the Afcon 2023 Preliminary qualifiers played at the Ahmadu Ahidjo Stadium in Cameroon.

The Ajman striker, who came in as a substitute, scored the only goal of the game for the Scorpions with a beautiful left-footed strike in the 80th minute.

Trawally, who was criticized during the Afcon tournament by a large number Gambian football fans for leaving the Scorpions in Cameroon, will hope to use the goal to finally put smiles on the faces of Gambians.

The Gambia, who impressed during their first ever Afcon tournament appearance in Cameroon, by reaching the quarterfinals, will be hoping for another taste of Africa’s flagship tournament after taking advantage during the first leg.

The Gambia will host Chad in the return leg in Agadir, Morocco, on Tuesday 29 March 2022.
