South Sudan: FIFA president Infantino celebrates 46th birthday on South Sudan visit

Juba, South Sudan (PANA) - FIFA president Gianni Infantino on Wednesday visited South Sudan, his first destination as head of football's governing body to a member association.

And the visit marked his 46th birthday, while South Sudan is FIFA's newest Member Association, according to a statement on the website of FIFA.

It said after meeting President Salva Kiir Mayardit, he inaugurated the new South Sudan FA headquarters with the President of country’s FA Chabour Goc.

The inauguration was particularly poignant as the building was constructed thanks to the FIFA Goal Programme, the statement said.

Later on Wednesday, the FIFA President will attend the CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between South Sudan and Benin.

The statement said from South Sudan, Infantino would continue his three-day trip to Africa with visits to Ethiopia, Djibouti and Gabon.
