South African Jewish group slams WCAR

Durban- South Africa (PANA) -- The South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) charged Thursday that the Durban World Conference Against Racism (WCAR), had degenerated into an anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish gathering.
"The Conference, which was designed to foster harmony and understanding (among) the peoples of this world, instead became a forum for the propagation of hatred, incitement and intolerance," SAJBD spokesman David Saks, lamented.
The group accused the South African NGO Coalition (SANGOCO) of displaying "anti-Israeli and pro-Palestinian-bias" from the very outset.
Prior to the start of the 31 August-7 September Conference, SANGOCO was said to have sent a delegation to the Palestinian territories, which met with Palestinian officials, but declined to meet with the Israelis.
"The South African Jewish community has not seen so strong an upsurge in anti-Jewish propaganda since the 1930s.
"Already this has resulted in a serious racially-based case of assault against a member of the Jewish community," Saks alleged.
He expressed the hope "that when the various delegations return.
.
.
, the hatred their visits have occasioned will depart with them".
