South African Airways cancels flights to Hong Kong

Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) – South African Airways has cancelled flights between Johannesburg and Hong Kong as a result of the severe weather conditions caused by Super Typhoon Manghkut.

The typhoon struck the Philippines in the early hours of Saturday, bringing with it massive gale-force winds and enormous rain. It is the strongest storm to make landfall in the Philippines since Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, which left more than 6 000 people dead,

The airline said assistance will be provided to all ticketed customers holding a South African Airways ticket and it will continue to monitor the weather conditions and advise customers accordingly.
