Senegalese president saddened by Nelson Mandela's death

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The Senegalese president, Macky Sall, his expressed a deep sadness and that of his administration, following the death of the former South African president, Nelson Mandela, which occurred on Thursday at the age of 95.

"We have lost a giant, one of the greatest figures of contemporary Africa. No man of our time has done as much as he did for his people, for Africa and for the good of the whole humanity. Nelson Mandela has taught us courage, resistance, forgiveness. He gave us what no man could have given us better," said President Sall.

"We consider him a hero of modern times and admire his wisdom which will be eternal. Mandela has gone, but his gigantic work will remain one of the most completed ever produced by a man," he added.

The government's spokesman, Abdou Latif Coulibaly, announced that Senegal will be with the rest of the world in order to pay a great tribute deserved by Mandela.

The South African president, Jacob Zuma, announced that Nelson Mandela will have State funeral and that the flags will be flown at half mast until the end of his funeral.
