Senegalese President to start three-day Gambian visit

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) – President Macky Sall of Senegal will embark on a three-day working visit to the Gambia, starting from March 11-13, during which he will have high-level meetings with his host, President Adama Barrow, official sources confirmed Saturday.

According to Amie Bojang Sissoho, the Director of Press and Public Relations Office of the President at State House in Banjul, the upcoming first high-level meeting between The Gambia and Senegal will enable the two governments to discuss a lot of development and bilateral issues.

The three-day meeting will begin with that of the experts’ meeting to be followed by the Inter-Ministerial one and concluded by the meeting with the two Heads of State, Presidents Barrow and Sall.

High on the agenda of the meetings are issues like Defence and Security, Forestry, Transport, Justice, Tourism, Culture, Communication, Energy and Petroleum, Custom, trade, sports, and consular issues amongst others.  

The two Heads of State will hold a joint press conference and President Sall will also meet with the Senegalese community in Gambia during the visit.

The Banjul meeting will further strengthen the cooperation and integration between the two countries.  

Last year during President Barrow’s official visit to Senegal, the two countries signed a joint communique on several areas of cooperation.
