Senegal: Dakar to host regional conference on safety and civil aviation in Africa

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The Airports Council International for the Africa Region (ACI-Africa), in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will organize a regional conference on safety from 8 to 10 April in Dakar.

Held on the theme, ''Safety intelligence against threats'', the conference will enable all airports and the aviation industry to meet, discuss and review the strategies implemented by the community to address permanent threat posed by unlawful acts likely to compromise the safe and orderly development of civil aviation in Africa.

It will also be an opportunity for experts to present the latest technological solutions implemented to support the strategies initiated by the ACI-Africa.

According to organizers, ACI-Africa was one of the members of the Airports Council International, whose main objective was to promote cooperation among its members and with other partners in world aviation, including government organizations, airlines and aircraft manufacturers.

ACI-Africa has 59 members who manage 250 airports in 47 countries. It represents three per cent of global traffic.

Its headquarters is in Casablanca, Morocco, and it is governed by a board of 15 members  including the Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA).

The last ACI-Africa conference was held in October 2013 in Lomé, Togo, and it was attended by over 350 participants coming five regions of the organization.
