Sao Tome and Principe becomes CEN-SAD member

Tripoli- Libya (PANA) -- Sao Tome's President, Fradique De Menezes, Wednesday sig ned in Tripoli, the Libyan capital, documents effectively making his country a m e mber of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD).
The documents included one relating to the mechanism to resolve conflicts within CEN-SAD and cooperation agreements in the fields of land transport, transit and security between countries of the regional organisation.
The Sao Tome leader also signed other cooperation agreements in the fields of se a transportation and the fight against illegal trade, narcotics and psychotropic drugs.
De Menezes stressed his country's willingness to make every effort to strengthen cooperation within CEN-SAD, the basis of the pyramid of the African Union (AU).
The Republic of Sao Tome and Principe was admitted as a CEN-SAD member at the organisation's 10th summit in Cotonou, Benin, on 18 June 2008.
