SADC delegation in Congo to campaign for SA's candidate for AU Commission head

Brazzaville, Congo (PANA) - A delegation from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) has arrived in Brazzaville to seek the support of Congolese President Denis Sassou N’Guesso for the candidature of South Africa's Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for the post of African Union Commission Chairperson.

The delegation includes Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs Rui Mangueira; his counterpart from Namibia Utoni Nujoma and the Minister of State Security from South Africa, Siyabonga Cwele.

The delegation has already visited Cape Verde, Senegal, Gambia, Nigeria, Gabon and Central Africa to campaign for Mrs Dlamini-Zuma.

At the last AU summit in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, the Heads of State and Government failed to elect the Commission chairman.

Mrs. Dlamini-Zuma is contesting the post against incumbent Jean Ping.
