Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) - South African Airways (SAA) has grounded all its flights to and from North America ahead of Hurricane Sandy, which is heading towards the eastern board of the United States.
The cancellation was immediate and would affect flights to and from New York and Washington, the national carrier said in a statement.
The flights affected on Monday are SA 204, New York to Johannesburg, and SA 208, Washington to Johannesburg.
The super storm is threatening 50 million people in the most heavily populated corridor in the US.
