Ryanair launches direct flight between Athens and Marrakech

Athens, Greece (PANA) - Ryanair, the European low-cost airline, on Monday launched a direct flight service linking the Greek capital, Athens, and the Moroccan touristic destination, Marrakech .

Its B773 aircraft departed from Ryanair regional hub in Marrakech at 7 am and landed in Athens at 1 pm, before embarking on the return journey at 2 pm. The twice-a-week service is scheduled for Mondays and Fridays.

Ryanair already operates regular flights from Marrakech to several destinations, including Rome, Budapest, London, Brussels, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Venice, Dublin, Paris, Marseille, Eindhoven, Krakow, Porto and Liverpool.

This new route is the only direct air service between Greece and Morocco.

According to Nikolas Lardis, Ryanair’s sales and marketing manager for the Eastern Mediterranean, Ryanair has invested more than 400 million euros in Athens, by basing 4 Boeing 737-800 aircraft there, creating 120 direct jobs and 2.250 indirect jobs.

"Our Athens Winter schedule offers 27 routes with 178 flights per week, including six exciting new routes to Aqaba in Jordan, Marrakech in Morroco, Dublin in Ireland, Catania and Palermo in Italy, Eindhoven in the Netherlands and a brand-new route to London and Luton, Lardis said.
