Rwanda: Rwanda's new Prime Minister Ngirente assumes office

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - Rwanda's newly appointed Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente took oath of office before Parliament on Wednesday and thanked President Paul Kagame for offering him the chance to serve the country.

Before his appointment, Ngirente, 44,  was a senior civil servant in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. Previously, he was an economics lecturer at University of Rwanda. He succeeds Anastase Murekezi who was appointed premier in July 2014.

Ngirente's appointment is the first by President Kagame since his re-election for a third term on 4 August 2017.
