Rwanda: Rwanda condoles Burkinabe gov't over terrorist attack

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - Rwanda on Monday sent a message of condolence to the government of Burkina Faso following an attack on Sunday by gunmen on a Turkish restaurant in the West African nation's capital city, Ouagadougou, killing 18 people.

In his message to her Burkinabe counterpart, the Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Louise Mushikiwabo, expressed his shock and condolences to the "families affected", following a murderous attack in Ouagadougou".

"Through my brother, Alpha Barry [Burkina Faso's FM], please accept fraternal solidarity from Rwanda," the Rwandan senior government official said while referring to the suspected terrorist attack that left several casualties, including victims from several nationalities.

Reports indicate that Sunday's attack brought back painful memories of another attack at a cafe that left 30 people dead in Ouagadougou in January 2016.
