Rwanda: RwandAir acquires 3rd Airbus A330-200 to boost services to US, Europe

Kigali,Rwanda (PANA) - Rwanda's flag carrier, RwandAir Express, has acquired a new 274-seater Airbus 330-300 as part of a deal to purchase many planes to fly new destinations linking Kigali with Europe and United States, the airline said in a statement made available here Thursday to PANA.

It said that the purchase is part of its strategies to enhance services to Europe and US destinations.

Reports indicate that the Airbus 330-300, a twin-engine jetliner, provides a best-in-class experience in all classes of service – including the Airbus modern comfort standard: 18-inch-wide seats for long-haul economy flights.

The A330-300 typically seats 277 passengers in a three-class arrangement, it said.

Earlier this month, RwandAir took delivery of another Boeing 737-800 series aircraft as it continues to extend its network.

The Rwandan government, which owns the airline, has pledged to build a new US$700 million international airport at Bugesera, southeast of Kigali, in a bid to support the airline's goal to leverage Rwanda's ideal location in the heart of Africa and develop a regional hub that would rival major international airports in the region.
