Rwanda: FIFA president visits Rwanda

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - The President of the world football governing body, FIFA, Gianni Infantino will on Saturday begin a two-day visit to Rwanda to inspect some FIFA projects in the country, PANA learnt in Kigali.

Rwandan local football body, FERWAFA, said that, during the visit, Infantino will inspect a three-star hotel in Kigali, which is under construction, and is part of the FIFA development programme aimed at helping developing countries to establish facilities for football.

It said the hotel is part of the FIFA development programme aimed at helping developing countries to establish infrastructure to boost the growth of the game as well as creating long lasting and sustainable income generation activities.

FIFA will finance 65 per cent of the total cost while an additional financial support will be raised from other local banking partners.

Infantion will also lay a foundation stone for the construction of FERWAFA Village Phase 1 in  in Kigali.

The FERWAFA Village, whose construction works are expected to take 18 months, is estimated to cost Rwf3.85 billion.

The facility, according to the football body, will have a hotel, a gymnasium and mini-pitches for volleyball, basketball and football.
