Russia: 'Visa-free entry for FIFA Confederations Cup fans from 7 June'

Moscow, Russia (PANA) - Football fans wishing to go to Russia for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup will be granted Visa-free entries to Russia as from Wednesday, 7 June.

This indication was given in a press statement in Moscow by the Deputy Director of Strategic Projects, Department of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, Andrey Romankov.

“According to existing legislature, as of June 7 foreign fans will be able to enter Russia without a visa, but they are required to carry their FAN IDs. The document can be received for free via mail," Romankov said, adding: “They will be able to leave the country with this document throughout the Confederations Cup and during ten days after the tournament is over.”

The FAN ID is a measure to boost security at the tournament for all participants and spectators.

"All those who wish to come to FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017 matches are required to receive their IDs, including children. This document, along with the ticket for the match, is a mandatory document to gain entry to the stadium," he said.

The national teams of Russia, Germany, Australia, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal and Cameroon will play in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup from 17 June to 2 July.

Russia qualified automatically as hosts, Germany as 2014 World Cup winners, Australia as 2015 AFC Asian Cup winners, Chile as 2015 Copa América winners, Mexico as 2015 CONCACAF Cup winners, New Zealand as 2016 OFC Nations Cup winners, Portugal as UEFA Euro 2016 winners, and Cameroon as 2017 Africa Cup of Nations winners.
