Romania: UNESCO meeting on int'l convention against Doping in Sport opens in Romania

Bucharest, Romania (PANA) - The fourth Bureau meeting of the 5th session of the Conference of Parties to UNESCO's International Convention against Doping in Sport will be held in Bucharest, Romania, on Thursday, 29 June, 2017.

According to UNESCO, the Conference of Parties (COP) to the International Convention against Doping in Sport is a statutory conference held every two years.

The meeting of the Bureau is held in preparation for the sixth session taking place at the UNESCO Headquarters 25-26 September 2017, to which all UNESCO Member States are invited to participate.

On 29 and 30 October 2015, a session of the COP took place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris under the Convention’s motto “Win for real”.

Gathering more than 350 participants from over 115 countries, that meeting had the highest participation of public authorities, in particular of Sport Ministers, since its first session held in 2005.

During the session and as required by Rule 4 of its Rules of Procedure, the Conference of Parties elected a Chairperson, Vice-Chairpersons and a Rapporteur.

Mr Saleh Konbaz Mohammed (Saudi Arabia) was re-elected as Chairperson. The representative of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as Rapporteur.

The elected Bureau also comprises the following Vice-Chairpersons: Colombia, Kenya, the Republic of Korea and Romania.
