Rival militias clash again in south-west Libya

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – Clashes have broken out again in the localities of Al-Chakika and Mizdah in south-west Libya, according to the Libyan News Agency.

It said heavy weapons were used by the two sides on Thursday, causing damage to several cultural buildings, schools, as well as about 40 houses. Electricity and communication lines were also cut.

A reconciliation committee, which includes prominent tribal groups, has met the parties involved in the conflict to broker peace.

Meanwhile, several days of clashes between rival militias in Jabal Nefoussa, have left 14 people dead and 89 others injured, and also displacing 200 families.

The authorities have deployed units from the army intervene.
