Repatriation of Burundian refugees from DR Congo continues

Bujumbura- Burundi (PANA) -- The repatriation of Burundian refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo is continuing, with the latest batch of 228 refugees repatriated recently, according to a source close to the UNHCR office in Bujumbura.
The first set of 244 refugees had been repatriated earlier, and the process will continue until all the 15,000 Burundian refugees in DR Congo have bee returned to their homeland.
Once repatriated, the refugees converge at a transit point near Bujumbura, the Burundian capital, for identification before their transfer to their regions of origin for reintegration.
UNHCR will start, 28 October, a similar operation to repatriate more than 40,000 Congolese refugees settled in Burundi.
