Rebel attack in Burundi leaves at least six dead

Bujumbura- Burundi (PANA) -- Military sources in Burundi say about 100 Burundi rebels early Wednesday attacked an important army barracks in Gatumba, about 12 km north-west of Bujumbura.
Six bodies, said to be those of rebels were found on the spot and army spokesman Col.
Augustin Nzabampema said four government soldiers were wounded in the fighting, which left at least three civilians wounded.
Administrative sources in Gatumba said primary schools of the area were closed Wednesday.
Observers said Gatumba, considered a holiday resort on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, now looks a huge camp of displaced persons with its small, straw-roofed clay houses.
