Pro-Gbagbo group organizes rally in Abidjan

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (PANA) - Mr. Charles Ble Goude, Minister of Youth in the Laurent Gbagbo administration is organizing a rally which, he said, would look more like a prayer session in front the presidential palace.

Goude, who is also the Chairman of "Alliance of Young Patriots, said in a press conference that the rally, scheduled for Saturday through Sunday, was to show that Gbagbo had majority of Ivorians behind him.

Goude has launched, since Monday, a recruitment exercise of young volunteers into the Ivorian army, “to help the Defence Forces and Securities to defend the country”.

The current Ivorian political problem followed the 28 November, 2010, presidential run off between Gbagbo and Alassane Ouattara.

Ouattara was declared winner of the polls by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and supported by the international community but the Constitutional Council said Gbagbo was the winner.

Since than both men had laid claim to the presidency, sparking clashes between their supporters.
