Polio vaccination starts Friday in Cameroon

Yaoundé, Cameroun (PANA) - Cameroonian health authorities will Friday launch a three-day vaccination campaign against poliomyelitis in eight regions of the country, PANA reported from Yaoundé Wednesday, quoting the Public Health Ministry.

The ministry said during the campaign, children aged between 0 to five years old will be vaccinated, whether or not they have received prior vaccination, in the regions of Adamaoua, Far North, Littoral, North-West, West and South-West, among others.

The campaign is in response to the cases of poliomyelitis recorded between October and November 2013 in some regions.

Public Health Minister André Mama Fouda will travel to Malentouen in the department of Noun, in the West, to launch the campaign.

A total of 4,225,194 children aged between 0 and five years were vaccinated across the country 25-27 Oct.
