Polio, measles immunisation campaign afoot in Pool

Brazzaville- Congo (PANA) -- Congolese Health minister Alain Moka has launched a special campaign to vaccinate 0-14 year old children against measles and poliomyelitis.
The launch took place Monday in Yokama, about 77 km south of Brazzaville in Pool.
The anti-measles campaign is targeting more than 70,000 children aged between 9 months and 14 years old, against measles, while about 37,000 children in the 0-5 year age bracket are to be vaccinated against poliomyelitis, with the aim of increasing the coverage rate in Pool to 50 percent this year.
Due to political unrest in the region, only 18 percent of the population there is immunised.
