Over 2,000 participants expected at the ECOWAS Mining and Oil Forum

Cotonou, Benin (PANA) - More than 2,000 participants are expected to attend the 4th Mining and oil Forum of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOMAF) scheduled for 22-24 February in Cotonou, sources close to the organization said on Tuesday.

According to the event's organizers, the 4th ECOWAS Mining and oil Forum (ECOMOF 2024) will bring together a diverse panel of participants, all involved in the mining and oil sectors, as well as in the economic development of the West African region.

They include representatives from the mining and oil sectors, government officials, international and national investors, industry experts, and delegates from ECOWAS and international organizations.

The theme of this regional forum, which aims to promote the mining and oil sectors as a means of fostering the economic and social development of ECOWAS member countries, is "Geo-extractive resources and technologies: what pooling strategies for creating added value in West Africa?

This theme underlines the importance of making the mining and oil sectors economic pillars, by developing attractive policies for investors and increasing the contribution of these sectors to government revenues.

ECOMAF 2024 has a number of key objectives, including promoting the mining and oil sectors to boost their contribution to economic development; facilitating the sharing of experiences between professionals and experts; stimulating investment through the presentation of attractive projects; strengthening strategic partnerships and networks; highlighting the specific regional potential of West Africa, among others.
