Okocha, Kanu to grace Abuja All-Africa Games soccer draw

Lagos- Nigeria (PANA) -- Top Nigerian football stars Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu and Daniel Amokachi will be special guests at the All-Africa Games soccer draw in Abuja Thursday, officials told PANA in Lagos Monday.
"We have invited top players like Okocha, Kanu and Amokachi to add colour to the event," said Bolaji Ojo-oba, a top official of the local organising committee for the All-Africa Games (COJA) slated for October.
Nigeria's Vice-President Atiku Abubakar will be the guest of honour at the ceremony, at the prestigious Hilton Hotel in the Nigerian capital.
   Host Nigeria and defending champions Cameroon have been seeded for the men's soccer event, while Nigeria and Ghana are front-runners in the women's football, which would be making its debut at the Games.
Other qualifiers for the men's football are Senegal, Algeria, Ghana, Egypt, South Africa and Zambia, while the eight teams for the female event are Ghana, Mali, Cameroon, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Algeria and Nigeria.
COJA officials said both the opening and final matches would be staged at the new Abuja Stadium, while group matches would be played in neighbouring cities.
Both competitions are for players under age 23.
