OIF countries urged to preserve cultural heritage

Ouagadougou- Burkina Faso (PANA) -- The Francophonie ministerial conference (CMF), which met here Wednesday exhorted members to preserve their cultural heritage and to encourage creativity.
In a resolution, the ministers called for concerted action among member countries of the International Francophonie Organisation (OIF) towards the preservation of cultural heritage.
They called on the OIF Secretary General to mobilise funds for the movement in collaboration with multilateral donors.
The OIF ministers acknowledged "the fundamental role of culture to sustainable development," insisting that the pursuit of such a goal requires the solidarity of all member states.
OIF holds its tenth summit on 26 and 27 November in Ouagadougou with some 20 heads of state and government expected to attend.
The theme of the summit is "Francophonie, a space for solidarity towards sustainable development.
