Official wants Angola to step up HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns

Luanda, Angola (PANA) -  The chairperson of the Angolan Network of HIV/AIDS Services Organizations (ANASO), Teresa Cohen, has said much remains to be done in taking HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns to all parts of the country.

Cohen said the public needed to be educated on preventive measures against the disease.

The official was speaking after a meeting between ANASO members and the resident coordinator of the United Nations, Maria Ribeiro.

"Education is fundamental to the extent that in some parts of the country people have not heard of HIV/AIDS. Therefore it is necessary to extend the information on this disease (to enable citizens) change their attitude," she said.
