Nigerians abroad to meet in Abuja

Abuja- Nigeria (PANA) - – Nigerians living abroad will meet over three days at a conference scheduled to start in the capital city of Abuja 25 July, a government statement said.
The conference, which would mark this year's Diaspora Day and the 3rd Science Technology Conference, will be declared open by President Umaru Yar'Adua.
It is being jointly organised by the collaborating Federal Ministries and the Nigeria National Volunteer Service (NNVS).
According to the statement, by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, more than 500 Nigerians from 25 countries, with various professional backgrounds, had so far registered for the conference.
"The conference is part of efforts by the Federal Government to mobilise and involve Nigerians abroad, especially professionals, in the development process at home.
"The 3rd Science Conference, which is the principal event of the Nigerian Diaspora Day, is aimed at deepening the collaboration between the scientific and technological communities of Nigeria at home and in the Diaspora," the statement said.
It will focus on Science and Technology with emphasis on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), health services, education, investment and youth engagement.
