Nigerian Air Force jets destroy Boko Haram training camp

Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Friday said its fighter jets have destroyed a Boko Haram terrorist training camp in Malkonory, Borno State, in northeast Nigeria.

The Air Force said its jets also destroyed one of their vehicles near Tumbun Rego in northern Borno State.

NAF Spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramla, said in a statement released in Abuja that the attack on the training camp was undertaken on 11 October 2018, following credible intelligence reports indicating that several structures, cleverly camouflaged under thick vegetation in the settlement, were being used to harbour and train their fighters.

It said NAF Alpha jet aircraft attacked the camp in successive strikes resulting in the destruction of many of the structures, which were seen to be engulfed in flames, as well as the neutralization of several Boko Haram terrorists. A  few of them who survived the air attacks were "mopped-up" in subsequent follow-on attacks.
