Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Nigeria will host an international conference on aviation safety in Africa 16-20 July in the capital city of Abuja, according to a statement from the office of Aviation Minister Stella Oduah.
According to the statement, the conference will be hosted by the Federal Ministry of Aviation (FMA) in conjunction with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Civil
Aviation Commission (AFCAC).
''The meeting will focus mainly on Safety Performance in Africa. The ministerial session of the conference will be preceded by the meeting of Directors-General of Civil Aviation Authorities and other Aviation Safety Experts,'' it said.
Those expected to attend incluce the ministers responsible for Civil Aviation in Africa; Directors-General of Civil Aviation in Africa and representatives of Regional Aviation bodies; Aviation Safety Experts; regulatory agencies; International Aviation Organisations; International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), USA.
A joint declaration and implementation mechanisms for safety imperatives in Africa will be adopted at the end of the Conference.
