Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - The police in Nigeria's northern city of Gombe has confirmed that at least one police officer, an Inspector, and two suspected Boko Haram insurgents died in Sunday's bomb attack at a base of the police mobile force (PMF) on the outskirts of the city.
State police commissioner Ebikeme Orubebe told a local radio station in Gombe state that more casualties are feared in the attack, which took place at 1 a.m. local time.
Violent Islamic sect Boko Haram is suspected to have carried out the attack, during which they looted the armoury of the ''34 PMF'' in Gombe
Eyewitnesses said several police vehicles, as well as buildings at the base, were set ablaze by the bomb attack.
It was the latest in a series of attacks that have been claimed by Boko Haram, including June's bombing of the police headquarters and August's bomb attack on the UN house, both in the capital city of Abuja.
