Nigeria: Buhari endorses treaty on Abidjan-Lagos highway

Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) – Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday signed the instrument of ratification of the treaty on the establishment of the Abidjan-Lagos corridor by the governments of Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo and Nigeria.

Tagged the Abidjan-Lagos Trade and Transport Facilitation Project (ALTTFP), the transnational highway is expected to ease cross-border movement of persons and goods among the partner countries in line with principles of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

President Buhari appended his signature to the document at the Presidential Villa on his second official day at work since he returned from medical vacation in London on Friday.

Specifically, the ALTTFP objective is to reduce trade and transport barriers in the ports and on roads along the Abidjan-Lagos corridor.
