Niger to host first CEN-SAD Games

Niamey- Niger (PANA) -- Niger will host the first edition of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) Games in 2008 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the founding of the organisation, an official source revealed here Thursday.
The games will be a blend of cultural, artistic and sporting events aimed at strengthening brotherhood and cohesion among youths in CEN-SAD member states, the source said.
Niger had introduced the concept of the CEN-SAD Games and the 14th ordinary session of the Executive Council examined it and recommended that the eight session of the CEN-SAD heads of states, held about a fortnight ago in Tripoli, Libya, decide on its institutionalisation.
The CEN-SAD Games will be organised every two years in one of the 23 member countries across the African continent.
