Niger: PM sets up Interministerial Committee on Ebola

Niamey, Niger (PANA) - Niger's Prime Minister Brigi Rafini Thursday set up an interministerial committee on Ebola, though no case of the disease has yet been reported in the country.

"The threat is present at the borders, that is why I ask our partners to strongly commit, mobilise and support the Government in order to prevent the  disease from spreading to our country," he said.

Rafini urged members of the Committee to strengthen vigilance and be responsive "to ensure great success of our prevention strategy''.

Ebola has killed almost 6,000 people in the three worst-hit West African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
