Niamey to host a meeting of broadcast media professionals

Niamey- Niger (PANA) -- This year's workshop for broadcast professionals within the Francophonie (SERFOR) has been slated for 13-18 December in Niamey, officials in the Niger capital confirmed Sunday.
Organised by the French-speaking Radio and Television Centre (CIRTEF) and the Francophonie Inter-governmental Agency (AIF), the workshop, which is in its 12th edition, will be attended by delegates from 45 radio and television organisations.
The organisers maintain that workshop is an ideal forum for French-speaking professionals to exchange views on issues pertaining to the development of radio and television as production, programming and technology.
This year's session will focus on the editorial freedom of broadcast organisations in Francophonie member states.
It would among other topics discuss the conception and realisation of programmes, the interaction between radio stations and the public and the educational potential of public radio stations.
In the sphere of television, discussions will focus on strategies in the elaboration of programmes to meet a variation of audience tastes and demands.
SEFOR was created in 1990 on the recommendation of a meeting of Francophonie ministers of Culture in Liege, Belgium.
Last year's session was held in Dakar.
