New AU Commission Chairperson to meet ex-African leaders

Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) - Newly-elected Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission and South African Minister of Home Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is due to host a meeting of former African Heads of State and Government in Pretoria Thursday.

The meeting takes place against the background of consultations that Dlamini-Zuma has embarked upon, ahead of assumption of her official duties at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, later this year.

Government spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa said Dlamini-Zuma is expected to consult with a number of relevant stakeholders with interests in the affairs of the AU, as part of preparations for her assumption of office.
