Neglected tropical diseases: Niger becomes first in WHO African Region to eliminate onchocerciasis


Geneva, Switzerland (PANA) - Niger has met the criteria for elimination of onchocerciasis, making it the fifth country in the world and the first country in Africa to be recognised by WHO as having interrupted transmission of the parasite Onchocerca volvulus, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed on Thursday
