Namibian police to step up night patrols

Rundu- Namibia (PANA) -- To square up with rising crime, Rundu regional police chief Clavi Awanga Tuesday hinted that Namibian police would deploy more members to patrol the town during night hours.
The Chief Inspector was reacting to a public outcry following the murder at the weekend of a female teacher.
While asserting his men would do their best to keep criminals at bay, Awanga warned Rundu residents to avoid unlit streets at night.
He appealed for assistance from the public to make the work of the police more effective, adding that he would soon organise meetings to set up crime prevention committees that would work with police to ensure peace and quiet.
