Mutiny Forces Postponement Of ECOWAS Police Chiefs' Meeting

Lagos- Nigeria (PANA) -- The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has postponed indefinitely the meeting of Inspectors-General of Police in member states, scheduled to start in Abidjan Monday.
ECOWAS spokesperson Adrienne Diop told PANA Sunday that the botched military uprising in Cote d'Ivoire necessitated the decision.
Ivorian Interior Minister Emile Boga Doudou, who was killed in the mutiny, had been scheduled to open the meeting.
"We will see what happens when the situation stabilises," Diop said.
The main agenda of the meeting was to facilitate intra-community cooperation in checking cross-border crime.
