Moussa al-Kouni and Sassou Nguesso meet to discuss ways of supporting stability in Libya

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The deputy Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Moussa al-Kouni, has discussed with the Congolese President, Denis Sassou Nguesso, Chairman of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya, the latest developments in the political situation in the country and ways of supporting the efforts of the Presidential Council to achieve stability.

During the meeting on Friday, on the sidelines of the African Union G10 summit on the Security Council in Oyala, Equatorial Guinea, Mr Sassou-Nguesso welcomed the efforts of the Libyan Presidential Council to achieve stability with the success of the national reconciliation project, which opens the way to maintaining the electoral agenda, according to a communiqué from the Presidential Council.

For his part, Mr al-Kouni reaffirmed the Presidential Council's commitment to working for the success of the reconciliation project and to supporting the electoral path to which the Libyan people aspire.

He called for greater support from the African Union, in coordination with the United Nations and international partners, to help Libya.

Mr. al-Kouni also met the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema with the discussions focusing on the reform of the UN Security Council.

They also discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two countries, underlining the importance of holding the summit at this stage in the life of the African continent.

President Obiang Nguema, for his part, welcomed the efforts of the Presidential Council to achieve stability and peace in Libya, stressing the importance of Libya as a founding member of the African Union.
