Morocco to organise 1st Summit on Education through Sport in Africa

Casablanca, Morocco (PANA) - The Moroccan Ministry of Education and a non-governmental organisation, Tibu Maroc, have announced the holding of the first Education through Sport Summit in Africa from 3 to 6 April in Morocco.

In addition to Morocco, several other African countries will take part in this summit, which aims to place sport as an identity necessity for emerging countries, the organisers said at a press briefing in Casablanca.

"Unleashing the potential of African youth through the power of sport" is the theme for the summit, which will be held simultaneously in Casablanca, Rabat, Dakhla, Laayoune, Dakar, Lusaka, Monrovia, Niamey and other African capitals.

It aims to foster transformational sustainability among all participants and actors by unleashing energies, building the capacity of actors accompanying African change agents through sport and co-constructing effective advocacy.

Taking into account the current health context, the summit will adopt a hybrid format, notably by setting up a series of activities that will be held face-to-face and others relayed through digital communication platforms configured for this purpose.

A ministerial plenary will take place in a hybrid format on 3 April in Rabat and will bring together African ministers and ambassadors, international organisations and all the stakeholders of the ecosystem.

Some 40 conferences, workshops and training sessions will be organised around the themes of "Women in sport", "Innovation in sport", and Sports for development.
