Members of Gambia’s constitutional commission take oath

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) – President Adama Barrow on Monday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of members of Gambia’s Constitutional Review Commission, held at State House in Banjul.

The 11-member-commission which includes lawyers, civil society activists and other professionals will be responsible for drafting “an all-inclusive and progressive constitution” for Gambia and it will cater to the needs of the entire Gambian society, as enshrined in the country’s new National Development Plan 2018- 2021.

The government said that in conformity with promoting gender equality, six women are appointed to serve on the commission.  

In another development, President Barrow received members of Gambia’s business community in his office to dialogue about government’s effort to support businesses, through various tax breaks granted by his government.  

He urged members of the business community to reciprocate and translate the concessions offered by his government into reduced market prices for the welfare of all Gambians.
