Mauritius plans 50 billion rupees investment

Port Louis- Mauritius (PANA) -- The Mauritian government Friday announced plans to invest 50 billion rupees for the improvement of public infrastructure during the next five years.

5 rupees = 1USD) Government House officials said in Port Louis that the State would spend about nine billion rupees yearly from 2001 to 2005, on the infrastructure projects.
The move is to boost the wastewater network, road infrastructure, health and water services, as well as airport facility and low-cost housing, for the poor.
"Important investments have also been announced in the field of education for the construction of 67 new schools," the officials added.
